The Sound album released in 2008 shows Mary Mary are not ones to shy away from in-your-face declarations of faith, the girls are now more intentional than ever about whom they adore, without for a moment compromising their call to innovation and growth. The introspective 'Seattle' is a prime example, a pensive prayer that asks the Lord to descend upon the soul the same way rain falls on the Emerald City. In the vein of Mary Mary standards 'Can't Give Up Now' and 'Yesterday,' a couple of ballads on The Sound stand out for their passionate delivery: 'I Trust You' (feat. Marvin Winans) and 'I Worship You' are easily the sonic and spiritual plateaus of the album.

"This Is The Way To Get Souls" 2010-07-19
By Brooklyn
Despite what others think of this CD which most likely are traditional christians, I think that this CD is the way to go. If our mission on this Earth is to save souls for Jesus Christ then we have to appeal to the people and this CD is the way to do it! Most non-believers are turned away from the traditional way of doing things, categorizing Christians as judgmental people when we deal with a lot too. Plus, this song has played on many secular stations broadening the message to others for people to get saved.I mean the music is spectacular and was just what I needed! You don't need screaming and an organ to make things gospel, ya know! So buy the CD you won't regret it, trust me!

 "The New Generation Review......." 2010-07-11
By G. Chavez
I truly love the album & DVD! The "Get Up" & "God In Me" music video was great, the songs makes me wanna dance, give praise to God & feel the holy spirit. The kids loved it as well! The album is upbeat, inspirational, fun & the lyrics are not too depressing. I'll have to admit, I cried a few times when I heard the song, "Forgiven Me" it touched my heart.

What most people need to understand is that, Gospel & Christian music is slowly evolving into a new genre of music such as R&B, Rapp, Rock, Jazz, etc. and I believe it is a blessing in disgust.... Contemporary gospel music will be able to touch people from all walks of life, especially the youth. It is VERY important that we inspire the children & adolescents, to continue to walk with the Lord despite of all the negative influences within the world today, for they are our future!

I love to see the adults & kids feeling happy and singing positive songs, instead of the secular music that pertains to explict lyrics. I think most gospel artists are great, but they tend to forget that some of us still love to dance too! It's refreshing to hear "happy" gospel music with a dance beat, which is sooo hard to find...

Mary Mary keep up the good work and God bless you all!!!!

 "Uplifting, Fun Music" 2010-04-03
By Explorer
Whether you are christian or just someone who likes good music, get this album.

The music is a cross between hip hop, old 50's bebop and simple r&b.

Again, whether you're christian or not, the music on this album has a very positive message.

I took from it....."Life is worth living during the ups and downs and no matter what get up and keep moving."

Highly recommend!!!!

Side Note:

Many feel that traditional gospel music has been corrupted by such artists as Mary Mary, Kirk Franklin and others who have modernized the music to reach the ears of the young. What traditionalists fail to understand is that the message within the modern gospel music is schooling the kids about God, family and being a positive, productive human being.

 "NARROW MINDED CHURCH FOLKS!!!!!" 2010-03-13
By HollyHood
omg, u wonder why christian music and white music sale more than black music. cause black folks are so narrow minded on Gospel!!! Gospel is a Word not a sound. I bet if mary mary would have made this whole album acapella, some of you would have still said this cd was not Gospel.. when Jesus walked the earth he hung with the tax collectors and the bad folks, reason being, he wanted to save the sinners!! that is the problem today, so call church folks want to save the saints; get out the church, the christains suppose to already be saved, so save the sinner!! that is what Jesus would have done!!! so please spare me all u negative folks talking mess bout this cd aint Gospel, maybe u aint saved!!! how bout that!!! if you have any problem with my comment tell it to God cause i aint tryning to hear it,, carful bout putting your mouth on me, im doing the will of God and that is being real, honest and telling it BOLDLY and not all judemental like you "perfect Christians!!!!!!!!"

"Usually they nail it but....." 2010-03-10
By Aimee (Omaha,NE USA)
Very surprised with this CD. I have all their music and this one just horribly missed the mark. All the songs start like a radio station is playing the song (This is WWblah blah the sound) Kills the CD for me. It doesn't flow because of it and you'll be too irritated to enjoy the upcoming song. Good for praise dancing and thats about it sad to say.
