Songs in the Key of Life (1976) was the highest high point of Stevie Wonder's career. More sprawling than Innervisions and Talking Book, this two-LP-plus-EP was also less of a consistent stunner than either of those masterworks. That Songs retains an enormous amount of visionary relevance, though, is demonstrated not only in Coolio's borrowing of "Pastime Paradise" as a template for "Gangsta's Paradise," but in the cold-as-ice synthesized string quartet of "Village Ghetto Land." This is Stevie, so naturally that cut's anger is balanced by the ultra-buoyant "I Wish," "Sir Duke," and "Another Star." The 2000 reissue boasts radically improved remastered sound. --Rickey Wright

"CD set highlights the genius of Stevie Wonder" 2010-08-09
By New England Pat (Virginia, USA)
This 2 album release is another gem from Stevie Wonder, along with "Innervisions" and "Fulfillingness' First Finale". From this fine music session came two #1 hits, "Sir Duke" and "I Wish", with many of the other songs being very good, even if they didn't chart. Wonder's talents as a vocalist, instrumentalist and his gift for lyrics underscores the genius of his musicianship and establishes him as perhaps Motown's most talented artist by a wide margin.

Where else do you get the pop prowess of The Beatles mixed with the funk finesse of Parliament in such solid servings?

 "Great supplier" 2010-03-16
By Miklos Kiraly Jr. (Honesdale,Pa USA)
I went to several local flea markets and found this CD in both used and new condition. This supplier beat the flea market prices even with shipping. If your not and (IG) Instant Gratification person. This is the way to shop.

"The perfect anchor to Stevie's "Classic Period"!" 2010-03-11
By Patrick Simmons (Stone Mountain, GA)
SITKOF is the fifth album from what is known as Stevie wonder's "Classic Period," preceded by "Music Of my Mind," "Talking book," "Innervisions," and "Fulfillingness First Finale." This 21 song collector's album has Stevie playing many tracks on his own while making much more use of additional top-notch musicians on the others. Lyrically wise, Stevie doesn't miss a beat. You get so much of what he's famous for, calls for love and peace ("Love's In Need Of Love Today"), biting social commentary ("Village Ghetto Land", "Saturn"), and soothing balladry ("As", "Knocks Me Off My Feet" and "If It's Magic"). "Sir Duke" is a perky tribute to the "Big Band" era and "I Wish" is a catchy, some would say funny, childhood remimiscence. "Black Man" is a shout-out to the contributions that people of all races and genders have made to the world with a slamming funky groove! SITKOF even includes two instrumentals, the jazzy, uptempo "Contusion" and the mellow, harmonica-driven "Easy Goin Evening (My Mama's Call)." While I would recommend the complete "Classic Period," SITKOL by itself should satisfy the average fan's appetites!

"Songs In The Key of Life Has A Masterlock For Being The Best Album of All-Time" 2010-01-23
By X Man (Worldwide)
There are only a handful of cds (and I mean a handful) that are the gold standard of greatness & true musicianship. "Purple Rain" & "Sign 'O' The Times" by Prince, "What's Going On" by Marvin Gaye & of course "Thriller" by Michael Jackson are examples of this gold standard of greatness. But "Songs In The Key of Life" by Stevie Wonder is without a doubt the most complete music recording of our time. Stevie creates the most perfectly crafted songs that express love, joy, spirituality, history & social commentary while keeping you entertained throughout the entire experience. I could go on & on but I won't. Just check out this musical masterpiece for yourself.
